Office on the Move

I wasn’t going to mention anything, but my little baby is crawling. Well, kinda crawling. He’s doing that army crawl thing to pull himself around. He started it on Sunday. As Techy and I were sitting around enjoying Lost Fest ‘10, Little Man was playing on the floor. Next thing I knew, I saw some movement out of the corner of my eye. The child was on the move.

Apparently, he wouldn’t budge at day care yesterday, but no sooner had we gotten him home and plopped him on the floor in the office than he was on the move again. Baby Lady needs to know that the kid only likes to chase around daddy’s dirty socks. Her issue is probably just a lack of dirty socks on the floor. Luckily, there is no shortage of dirty socks laying around my house.

But in the vein of the way I do things – a little behind – it is officially time to focus on getting this here office/family room more baby friendly. Especially since this is where we spend 90% of our time as a family.

Currently, thanks to SOMEONE’s obsession with all things technology, we have cords running hither and yon in ye olde office. Clearly not baby friendly. We also have a giant subwoofer chilling in one corner. Do I even need to say it? And I won’t even begin to talk about the doggie toys.

With that being said, it is clearly time for a do-over in our office. And I am OB.SESSED with these a couple ideas I have seen recently. Jones Design Company nailed jaw to the floor with this gorgeous and handy office re-do. Obviously, Techy would never agree to pattern on the wall, but what he doesn’t know won’t hurt him. And I am totally IN LOVE with this idea of making a closet into useful storage space . But again, think Techy would go for this when he already the office just the way he wants it?

Ehh, I will just tell him it’s my way or the highway. Maybe I will even cry about it. Why? Because we learned yesterday that crying is cliché and clichés always work!

LOVE. THAT. OFFICE. goodNESS i'm swooning!

if you want pattern on the walls without painting, you could get some cool printed fabric, and then put it in big frames (either IN a large frame or stretched across a canvas frame).

my mom also just pins large swaths of fabric on one wall in her work office. she switches prints every month or so. just pins it right to the wall. you could do something like that, but maybe secured a little better to protect from tugging hands...
