Someone Stole a Cookie From the Cookie Jar

Imagine my surprise when I returned home from church last week to find this....

What's that?

You don't notice anything out of the norm?

Oh, ok...

How 'bout now?

Yes, my friends...that is a cookie...

STUFFED between the cushions of our hideously ugly, but remarkably comfy recliner.

An ENTIRE not-a-crumb-missing cookie, mind you.

That apparently SOMEONE had stolen and hidden for later....

I have my suspicions about who the culprit was....

Not only because he scavenges for food at every opportunity....

And has been known to take his favorite treats and "bury" them under blankets/pillows/whatever is available...

But mostly because he was the only one in my house while we were at church.

Sorry, dude...gotta call 'em like I see 'em.

Weight Update # 17

Well, looks like my theory was accurate.

I did lose this week....

Albeit, not much.

That's .8 pounds from last week.

However, I am VERY thankful for that.

Because I have seen more of 141 than I ever thought I wanted to.

We had become so close that I was assuming she was sticking around for good.

Luckily, I kicked her to the curb this week.

Hopefully, never to be seen again.

And here's where I whine and complain about how my expectations for the year would have already had me well below my pre-preggers weight and moving into my post college/newlywed weight range.

And alas, that is not the case.

But hey, I did manage to lose .8 pounds this week!

I need someone to high-five for this major accomplishment....

The Great Granny Panty Debate

Awwwwwwwwwwwww yeah...

So, it's been a few months since I started on my little weight loss journey.

And let's just say that most of my unmentionables are becoming regular topics of conversation.

As in, why are my panties hanging down to my knees?

It's gotten pretty embarrassing of late.

Especially that day I tried to wear a mini skirt to turn my hubs on, and then realized that my granny panties were hanging out of them...on both ends....

Um, yeah.  Momma needs some new underpaints, as my Nanny Charlotte would say.

And since it's MHO day, I figured I would give you the low down on my opinion related to the lower-downs, aka. the droppin drawers, aka. skivvy's, aka. bloomers....

Although, I think that's enough southern references for underwear, even for me.

And sadly, a few things are affecting my panty pickings these days that petrify me.

I mean, seriously, who knew that wicking would be pivotal in your underwear of choice?

But alas, there was this toddler who sat on my bladder for 9 months, thus rendering my already weak bladder decimated to the onslaught of post-baby-diet-water-drinking.

And let's not even go into the running-sweat-wicking-issues.

Because then you get into a hot mess issue that just ain't pretty.

But yeah, I never realized that my booty covering decisions would be dominated by my desire for dryness.

And let's just face the facts that this does not wick well.

And also, it chafes while running.

Making it completely not optional.

However, I don't think I have lost enough self pride to go this route either....

Of course, considering the current situation of my droopy drawers, this might just be an improvement!

And although my goal would be full coverage, I would also be looking for other important qualities....

Like shaping abilities.

And magical melting off pounds abilities.

And comfort.

And pretty.

And cheap.

Note: It is at this point that I should warn you to NEVER, EVER, EVER type bikini underwear into Google images and hit enter.  It will only take seconds before you want to claw your eyes out.

For the record, my all time favorite panty has been discontinued.  VS's Angel wide-side bikini.

I am tearful and sad.

And still on the hunt.

For the perfect pair of pantaloons.

And with that, I concede defeat and have to go wash my eyeballs out.

I am sincerely afraid that these images will never go away.

Ever.

P.S.  I think I may have just found the solution for my problem....  VS's Smooth Hiphugger....

They appear to be very reminiscent of my old faves, but they look like they could wedge a bit....
Anyone tried these?  Comments are welcome!

What's in a Name?

Apparently, alot.

This is coming from someone who for years hated her name.

Because I went to a Christian school.

Where everyone knew the story of Jacob, Rachel & Leah.

I was often called names like "the ugly stepsister".

Yeah, good times.

During those early years I dreamed of having a beautiful name like Elizabeth, Jocelyn, or Macy.

Anything not associated with being an ugly stepsister who no one wanted....

It only got better when in college I did a little research and discovered that the original Hebrew meaning of my name was "Wild Cow", later interpreted to "Cow-Eyed", later interpreted to "Sad-Eyed" and finally interpreted to just "Sad".

Lovely.

Thank you, mom....

Wild Cow and Sad....

Is it any wonder I adopted a handful nicknames along the way?

Yes, this post is a nickname post.

Because I have had some amazing nicknames.

And you deserve to laugh at me about it.

So here goes:

1.  Lolly.
This one goes way back.  One of my cousins couldn't manage to get out Leah, but Lolly came out just fine.  To be honest, my mom still calls me Lolly.  As does my aunt.  As does...ok, so no one else does...except maybe now a few people across the internet....  But still.  It's a good one.  My mind does wonder how Lolly is so much easier than Leah, but whatever.

2.  Le-Le.
Again, someone couldn't say my name...my baby brother really struggled with getting Leah down.  This was also the brother whose first sentence was "I wanna fish" at like a year old.  So yeah, pretty much chalking that up to laziness on his part.  "Leah" is much easier than "I wanna fish" - like 2 whole syllables easier.

You should also know that for about 2-3 years, my mom stopped calling me Leah or Lolly for Le-Le.  Lucky for all of us, I was like 7 or 8 years old and didn't know enough to mind....

3.  Pookie, Pookle, Pook.
Most couples come up with romantic names for their spouses.  I.e., Honey, sweetheart, Mr./Mrs. Lover, etc.
However, if you have learned nothing else from this blog, you have learned that we are a little different....

Like horse of a different color, different.

BTW: Does anyone know how they managed to change the horses color no less than six times?

I mean, really, were they just lightyears ahead did they actually dye 6 poor horses?

Which leads me to a different question, how big was that PAAS pellet?

And how did they keep him from getting speckled?

Tell me I am not the only one suffering from speckled Easter egg syndrome?

Wow, can we say rabbit trail?

(or bunny trail...like the EASTER BUNNY???  I could go on for days, people...DAYS)

Back to the nickname thing....

In my mind, Techy has become "Techy" and in his mind, I have become "Pook".  It started (I think) before we were even married.  And it started as Pookie.  Over time, someone got creative...and I became Pookle.  These days, he's just altogether foregoing the second syllable in general and has reduced it to "Pook".  Which is way more endearing than it sounds.

4. And finally...the build up to MY ABSOLUTE FAVORITE NICKNAME OF ALL....

As if there were any doubt....

RULEBREAKER, of course!

Still no?

But I made this way cool logo....

You'll notice I didn't make a logo for any of my other way cool nicknames....

Still no?

Mmm kay, fine.

Doesn't mean I am not going to have this logo printed out and ironed on to as many tee shirts as I can find though.

Just try to stop me.

The Poof

You've seen it everywhere.

The infamous "Poof".

And no, I am not talking about a come back of MC Hammer pants.

Although....

Could be a good look for me, right?

Nah, not talking about that poof...

More like this one...

I've been sporting it longer than it was popular.

And by "sporting it", I of course mean using the poof to NOT FIX my hair everyday.

And luckily, a handful of celebrities came along to make it look cool.

And then brides started picking it up...like it was stylish or something....

And then someone let Snooki take it to all kinds of wrong places.

Undaunted, I continue to perfect my own personal poof.

And then someone dared to ask me how I do it.

And we all know what happens when anyone asks me HOW to do something, right?

So without further ado....

Step 1.  Don your favorite bathrobe and grab your roundest hairbrush.

And a hair dryer.

Note: It usually works better if you put your cell phone down and pick up the hair dryer to dry your bangs.

Step 2. Dry Bangs.

Note: I couldn't figure out a way to take a picture of myself holding an hairbrush and drying my bangs at the same time, and let's just say you wouldn't want Techy taking the picture this early in the morning, as there is a distinct possibility it would have ended up a little like that ebay table picture thing.

If you don't know, don't ask.

Step 3. Fluff dry bangs back over head.

Note: For best effects, begin channeling Don King for the most volume your hair has ever seen.  Ever.

Step 4. Pull bangs back, pinch and twist.

Note: the pinch and twist is PIVOTAL to a good poof.  Otherwise, it will fall flat.  This was a problem I had ALOT in the early days.

Also, dry bangs pinch and twist WAY BETTER than wet bangs.  (That's what she said...)

Ugh.

So sorry.

Step 5.  Clip.

I prefer an overlapping double clip.

And there you have it.

Blow dry, fluff, pinch, and twist.

As an aside, there is no need to ridicule me for my old lady robe or my ridiculous bathroom.  Just consider yourself on the inner circle now.  And people in the inner circle don't make fun.

Just so you know.

Who's Hungry

For the record, it's the end/beginning of another month and my cupboards are bare.

So this topic is more than appropriate for me.

I'm not just hungry...I'm RAVENOUS!

Wait a sec'....

Ok, back.

Had to take a break for snack time.

And to make a pot of coffee....

I am blaming it on that Dorito's commercial that is on a loop in the back of my mind.

So, I am going to take a minute and talk about food.

And food choices.

And how it impacts your diet.

And when I say diet, I mean, your method of eating healthy, not to be confused with your lack of eating.

Before I got preggers, I followed WW to a T.

But not a healthy T....

I forewent all my fruits and grains for processed foods with lower calories.

And I ate more of them.

Because I could.

I am not touting that notion these days.

(Unless, of course, it is the end of the month and the only foods left in my cupboards are those loaded with high fructose corn syrup)

Here are some things that I LIVED by in my previous life....

Not that I have totally sworn off any of these products, by any means.

I would still eat one on occasion, but I have discovered that I don't have to eat as much when I eat better. (Thank you, very much, Jillian....)

Things like this...

For the record, eating these things won't keep you from day dreaming about things like this...

But when it makes you go from this:

To this:

You'll be ok with it.

I promise.

Super Ads

Yep.

I'm gonna do it.

I'm gonna review my top 5 favorite Super Bowl Commercials from the big game on Sunday night....

Just because I can.

Note: When watching the Super Bowl with teenagers, you should be aware that you may not get to enjoy every commercial as you had planned by eating pizza and brownies because they somehow managed to talk you into doing planks during every commercial break.

AKA.  You DREAD commercial breaks and actually end up watching the game.  Ugh.

But these are some of the ones that I did see.

And enjoyed enough to laugh, even if I was in plank position.

5.  Audi.

Because this girl loves some Kenny G!

4. E*trade.

They always make me laugh!

3. Volkswagen

Because I have a little boy...and this is too stinking cute!

2. Doritos

And finally, numbero uno:

1.  Chevy

This decision may or may not have something to do with the fact that this commercial not only stars a "redhead", but hay bails!  Come on people...hay bails?

Puh-lease.

There is just no competition.
