Everyone hits a plateau! Before...Don't give up! Everyone hits a plateau! Before entering this rediculous nursing program, and actually had free time, I was studying personal training on my own, and have learned some interesting things that might help. First im sure you have heard that your body adjusts to your weight loss habits after a while, and therefore you have to change something every few weeks.. whether it be decreasing/increasing calories, types of food, or changing the type of exercise you do. The tricky part is if you reduce your caloric intake too much, and still work out like crazy, you wont lose fat because your body thinks its going into starvation mode (we still think like cavemen) and will actually store/hang on to fat, because it may not know the next time it will get the calories needed to supply the energy for all the exercise. Also, the most effective "fat burning" workouts have found to be ones with intervals-where you have both aerobic and anaerobic periods. So maybe try changing the settings on the eliptical to intervals or change the intensity of the workout (1 min all out and then 2 min more relaxed type of thing). As for your thyroid, it will take quite a few weeks for your body to adjust, particularly until your doc figures out the adequate dosage that is maintaing normal TSH levels. Lastly I have the formula for the weight watchers point system (and how many points you can have is based on individual criteria). So, basically I can tell you how to do it without you having to pay them a load of money, if you'd be interested in that at all. Sorry if I'm just rambling now, but I love health/fitness stuff and especially helping other people : ) Let me know if I can help!! You've already done such a great job!!!Lauren aka future Mrs. Raineynoreply@blogger.com
